Empty Handed

Have you ever feel like you have lost it all?  I mean, feeling as if you have nothing left?   No matter what you do, you can’t get your finances straight, you don’t have the friends you used to, and your family doesn’t care about you. You have even lost hope that things will ever get any better.

You lost that job opportunity.  You failed school.  You lost that person whom you loved.  Or perhaps not – maybe you have all these things, but you still feel lonely.  Maybe you feel as if there is something missing.  You may feel that you are just not complete, and you can’t understand why.  I guess you can say that you feel EMPTY handed!

I was once empty handed.  But, what do I mean by that?  No matter what I did, or what I touched, or where I went, there was something missing.  There was a void in my life.  And I couldn’t grab hold if it.  Money would just disappear from my hands.  My car kept messing up.  I had quit school.   I hated my job.  I was losing control of my life, and I didn’t know what to do about it.

Without God, we are EMPTY HANDED.  There is always going to be something missing, if we do not put God first.  That means first – yes, before your job, before your money, before even your own family.  God has to be the center of our lives.  If He is not first, then we are missing the very substance of life, which is where all of our blessings come from.

Sometimes, we put other things first, not realizing we are becoming empty of what really matters in life – a relationship with God.  His word says in Deuteronomy 28:8-11 “The Lord will command the blessing upon you in your barns, and in all that you undertake; he will bless you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. The Lord will establish you as his holy people, as he has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in his ways. 10 All the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you. 11 The Lord will make you abound in prosperity, in the fruit of your womb, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground in the land that the Lord swore to your ancestors to give you.”

Wow!  Isn’t that awesome?  All that can be given to us if we just make God our number one priority in life.  This makes me happy.  Ever since I decided to put Him before everything, even before myself, God has blessed me so much.  Not only financially, but spiritually, emotionally, health wise, with my family, and just everything.  I mean everything.  And I don’t know about you, but I love having an abundant life. I don’t just want to live a life where I am just surviving. I want to an abundant life, where I am thriving. God says in John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”  See, God also wants you to have an abundant life.

There is no need to be empty or have a void in your life.  God can fill any void you may have.  Believe me, He filled all of mine.  No matter what you have lost, God will give it back to you.  I guarantee you that.

If we have Him, we will never be empty handed again.
Much love,

  1. It would serve us very well to remember this. My difficulty is wanting to control situations (believing that I am in control), but it always goes much better when I give it over to God.
