THE POWER OF LETTING GO

Sometimes, I think we don’t have a full understanding of the power our Heavenly Father has given us through His Holy Spirit.  Yes, ultimately without Him we can’t accomplish anything, but thank God for His Grace.  The Bible tells us that He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power.  2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” This month I feel compelled to share with you a series on “The Power” God has given us, and the power there is in certain actions we should take or live in.

I want to focus on the power of letting go.  Some of us live in our past, yet we regret it, despise it, and wish it never would have happened.  But, for some odd reason, we enslave ourselves to it, and decide to relive it over and over again.  If you find yourself doing this, if you do not feel able to let go of certain things that have hurt you in the past, I have good news for you.  You don’t have to live stuck in your past anymore. You can let it go and surrender it to God.

The moment we choose to give to God what we ourselves can’t deal with, things start to change.  I urge you to surrender your pain, hurt, guilt, bitterness, loneliness, un-forgiveness, blame, and shame to God.  It’s hard to live a peaceful life when we are carrying all those things on our backs.  Last time I checked, Jesus Christ died so that we may have life, but not just any life, an abundant life.  We can have a life full of joy, love, happiness, and blessings.  However, it’s hard to have an abundant life when we carry all those things from our past in our hearts daily.

I challenge you to let go of your past today.  Ask God to take those things and feelings away from you.  I know it works because I had to do it.  I used to be a very bitter person.  I use to blame everyone for everything that had happened in my life.  I lived angrily every day, and it was very hard to get any joy out of life.  I believe that made God sad.  Jesus died so that we may be free, but our unwillingness to let go keeps us bound to our past.  There is power in letting go, and there is power in the name of Jesus.

I will continue this series throughout this month.  I would love to hear how letting go has blessed your life, and the power it has had for you.  I pray we can move forward, and receive what God has ahead of us.  Remember, God will never be behind you.  He will always be in front of you, making a way for you.

Much love,

Carmen

  2. Loved it….I think one of the things that sits deepest in our hearts that we cannot let go of is an event from the past that we feel no remorse about…something that we may feel was a justified action although it was the wrong solution. We may feel that we should but we dont, we may feel that God wants us to but our mental justification will not accept the having to give in to that action and it will not even mask any attempt in trying. It is sad but Paul says we must renew our minds but some have locked it up so deep that only God can open, only God has the key….that key is Jesus….
